Red, White, Blue & Green Fleet sailors:
The race results for the Winter Series races will be posted soon. Keep checking this site for updates...
This Upcoming Weekend - February 23 & 24 we will hold a regular weekend practice schedule on Saturday for the Advanced, Intermediate Fleets. Sunday (weather permitting) we will be running the Commodore's Cup Series Races for Advanced, Intermediate, and Commodore's Fleet sailors.
The Commodore's Cup club race series scores do not affect Winter and Spring series scores. Commodore's Cup racing is held with the emphasis of sportsmanship and fun. Awards for the Commodore's Cup will be presented at the Change of Command ceremony in April.

UPCOMING @ LYC
Great job to our sailors who braved the crystal clear water and strong breeze at the Buccaneer Blast in Key Largo last weekend. Thanks to coaches Kyle and Corey for providing great support to our sailors.
Well done to all the Green Fleet ! and sailors who placed high enough to bring home some funky trophies.
We had a busy weekend at home with the Lauderdale Olympic Classes Regatta. Here's a taste of the kind of racing we saw in the ocean last weekend.
We are looking forward to getting back to our regular practice schedule this upcoming weekend and also the second race day of our Winter Race Series on Saturday for RWB & Sunday for GREEN!

PEWAUKEE POST # 1
Eligible sailors (TTQ), we have begun to make our travel and practice plans for the 2013 USODA Team Trials hosted by the legendary Pewaukee Yacht Club. If Sandusky, Ohio blew away all your Midwestern expectations, prepare to be amazed at the bitter conditions that Lake Pewaukee Lake will serve up this May!
The event's website is http://www.teamtrials2013.com/ If you haven't already checked it out, there are plenty of links on the website that can help you make lodging, boat charter, and regatta arrangements.
Our plans are to depart from LYC on Saturday, April 27 with plans to arrive before midnight on the 28th. With that we will have on site practice for the event Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before the first day of racing on Thursday, May 2nd.
Here's the current list of sailors planning to attend. If you aren't on the list and plan to attend, visit the "Upcoming Regattas" portion of this site to let us know.
Connor Murphy
Chase Sabadash
Stephen Streater
Sinead McManus
Garrett Dixon
Conner Correll
Olivier Grubb
We need to finalize our plans SOON so please let us know ASAP!
As you know the Team Trials is the Qualifying regatta for the Summer International Teams. Here's some info pulled from the NOR about that
17. SUMMER INTERNATIONAL TEAM QUALIFICATION
17.1. Qualification for summer international teams will be in accordance with the selection
criteria established by USODA and posted on the USODA web page at www.usoda.org. In the
event of a tie that cannot be resolved by use of the rules governing this event, the matter shall
be decided by a game of chance supervised by the Principal Race Officer (PRO).
17.2. In the event no races are completed at the 2013 USODA Spring Team Trials or if the
Executive Committee of the USODA Board of Directors concludes prior to the start of the first
race that a substantial percentage of the registered sailors cannot attend or otherwise participate
in the regatta for reasons beyond the control of the Pewaukee Yacht Club, the USODA or the
registered sailors, then the order of selection (with 1st place to receive the 1st invitation, etc.) of
those sailors from the 2012 USODA National Championship who;
a) are current members of USODA,
b) registered for the 2013 USODA Spring Team Trials, and
c) whose age permits them to sail in USODA events in the same year as the events for which
teams that are being selected are to occur, shall serve as the basis for selecting the individuals to
be invited to join the USODA teams otherwise to be selected on the basis of the results of the
2013 USODA Spring Team Trials.

BUCCANEER BLAST OFF!
At this time, I'd like to make a few announcements so we're all on the same page for this weekend.
ALL Sailors attending the Buccaneer Blast Regatta hosted by the Upper Keys Sailing Club (http://www.msysp.org/ ) in Key Largo, FL this weekend need to sign up on the appropriate page at the "Upcoming Regattas" portion of our website (yes, please, you too RWB sailors). Click http://www.msysp.org/PDFs/Buccaneer%20Blast%202013%20NOR.pdf for the NOR.
The LYC truck and trailer will be at the club all week and available for loading. Spots will be labeled on Tuesday of this week. If your boat is already on the trailer, even better!
RWB sailors not attending the Buccaneer Blast will have a regular practice schedule at LYC this weekend. But you MUST move your boats to the club's front lawn for launching on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. We will be sailing out of the front lawn this weekend, just like the Boomerang because...
We are hosting the Lauderdale Olympic Classes Regatta at this weekend, starting Friday we expect to see over 50 Lasers, Finns, 29ers, and i420s packed into the sailing center so we need every inch of the pad for our guest competitors.
Green (Commodore's Fleet) sailors will not hold practice this Sunday, as we encourage you all to attend the Buccaneer Blast regatta.
Keep checking for detailed information about our travel plans, regatta schedule, and other volunteer opportunities for this week's upcoming regatta...

LYC Sailors at the Miami OCR!
“Eight Olympic class events raced for medals on Saturday’s
finale of the 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami. Once again, conditions on the
emerald waters of Biscayne Bay mixed with the high level of competition and medal
race urgency, allowed these sailors to evaluate their abilities and determine
where they rank among the world’s best.”
Many of the competitors and champions are connected with the
LYC program as either sailors or coaches. Next time you see these folks around
be sure to congratulate them for a job well done. Coordinate with the sailing office if your sailor is interested in learning more about these exciting boat classes. For more information about the Miami OCR check
