We still need two parents to tow coach boats. If you are
available to help, please let one of us know. Also, parents please pack snacks and
waters to put on the coach boats. It is really important that sailors are
staying hydrated and drinking plenty of liquids. Last practice, I had 5 kids
ask me for water because they didn’t bring their own. Please make sure your
child has more than enough.

Change of Command April 18th
LYC Sailing Community,
This weekend is the Change of Command as well as the SE
Dinghy Champs at Key Biscayne Yacht Club. If you are not sailing in the regatta
it is mandatory that you participate in the fleet review at LYC. If you are
sailing in the regatta, there is a possibility you will be able to make it back
to LYC on Saturday in time to ride on the coach boat for fleet review. The
fleet review is basically a boat parade where every boat salutes the incoming
Commodore on the front East Dock. Sailors have the option to sail (if their
boat is at LYC and not at SE Dinghy Champs) or they can ride in one of the LYC
coach boats.
It is very important that Junior Sailing makes a strong
appearance at this ceremony. If you plan to sail or ride on the coach boat,
please let me know so I can get a head count and reserve you a spot on a boat.
Junior Sailors must wear their LYC blue Polo Shirt. If you don’t have one,
let me know and I will give you one.
This week after practices, our fleet captain, Chip Sabadash
is going to give a talk about the formal way to accept an award. He will
discuss what the Change of Command ceremony is all about.
Saturday April 18-Change of Command Fleet Review
& Award Ceremony:
4:30- Rigged and Ready (For those sailing in the Fleet
Review
4:45- Arrive at sailing center (if riding on an LYC coach
boat)
The Fleet review will probably finish around 5:30 and the
awards ceremony will follow. Sailors that are receiving a Commodores Cup
Trophy, should be at the ceremony to accept their award.

Printed sign up forms are located in the Sailing Office and the bottom portion of it must be returned to the office along with the deposit to secure your spot.
If you have questions feel free to ask Julia or myself.
Thanks!
