Final Plans for Valentine’s Regatta in St. Petersburg

Meet us at that time and coordinate unloading Friday night! Call Colin or Juan Carlos when you arrive in St. Pete

Winter Series Race # 2 – February 16 for Advanced and Intermediate & on February 17 for Commodore’s Fleet.

Commodore’s Cup – Sunday, February 24 for Advanced, Intermediate, and Commodore’s Fleet. 

Spring Series Race # 1 – March 16 for Advanced and Intermediate & on March 17 for Commodore’s Fleet. 

April 6-7 The Spring Fling Regatta at CRYC for Commodore's Fleet only.                                              

COMMODORE'S FLEET UPDATES

This weekend we'll have regular practice times at LYC for the Commodore's Fleet.
 1:30pm Rigged and Ready to 4:30pm on Sunday.

A few reminders for parents, please...
  1. Help your sailors pull boats off the rack and stow at end of the day.
  2. Respect limited practice time sailors have with coaches. If you need to talk with the coaches about something, plan to do so after practice time.

NEVER TO EARLY TO DREAM ABOUT SUMMER

In 2001, Sail Newport and the family of Brooke Emmens Gonzalez embarked on a plan to create a high end clinic on the East Coast. 2012 will mark the 11th year of the Brooke Gonzalez Advanced Racing Clinic. We enjoy a reputation for the highest quality coaching, fabulous hospitality, a range of sailing conditions from flat tidal waters to choppy Bay and open ocean, and remarkable guest speakers. This clinic is held in Lasers (Full Rig and Radial), 420s, and Optis. It is a bring your own boat clinic. Applicants 14-18 years of age are selected based upon their resume.

Measurement
7.1 Competitors are allowed to use only one hull, dagger board, rudder (with tiller and extension),
mast, boom, sprit and sail during the regatta. Substitution of such equipment shall occur only with
the Race Committee’s approval.
7.2 Each competitor will be required to sign a statement attesting that any previously measured or 
stamped equipment and or sail has not been modified since the date it was measured. IODA Class 
legal equipment that has not been measured and stamped may be used subject to individual or 
random inspection by the Organizing Authority or Race Committee.
7.3 Each boat shall pass a safety check prior to launching on the first day and may be randomly
checked throughout the event.


Venue
9.1 Boats will be launched from the St. Petersburg Sailing Center on Demens Landing.
9.2 The racing area will be on Tampa Bay.

10 The Course
10.1 There will be separate race areas and courses for the Gold and Silver Fleets.
10.2 The course to be sailed will be included in the Sailing Instructions.


Qualification for Future Events
16.1 This regatta is a 2013 USODA Team Trials Qualifying event. The top 25% of team trials
eligible competitors, as defined by the USODA, based on the final results using the total 5
number of boats registered in both the Gold and Silver Fleets, may receive invitations to
compete in the 2013 USODA Team Trials.

We love our Willifords!
Many of you have asked about being tested to to see
if you are a potential bone marrow donor for LYC Junior Sailor Christopher Williford. The Community Blood Bank has offered to come to the 2013 LYC Boomerang Regatta from noon to 5PM on Saturday, January 26th to swab those interested in finding out if they are a match. There is no charge for this testing. If you are interested, please come by during that time to get swabbed.

Swabbies must be 18 - 44 years of age.
